1. Expressing anger or displeased and annoyance(mengekspresikan kemarahan atau tidak senang dan jengkel)
 Contoh-contoh dikategorikan oleh situasi: netral, informal, dan formal:

NEUTRAL
INFORMAL

  • I’m very annoyed …
  • Oh dear…/Oh No!
  • What a nuisance!
  • This really makes me cross/angry.
  • It annoys me.
  • It isn’t very nice/ pleasant.
  • I really hate him!

  • I’m fed up with it.

2. Expressing sympathi (rasa ikut bersedih atau suka cita)
      Contoh:
          2.1. Expressing of sympathy on minor 

a. What’s shame d. That’s too bad
b. What’s pity e. That’s pity
c. That’s a nuisance f. Oh dear

          2.2. Expressing of sympathy on serious accident
   a. Goodness! 
   b. How Awful!
   c. How terrible!

          2.3. Expressing of sympathy on personal circumstances

3.Expressing offering something ( menawarkan sesuatu )
contoh:
- Wolud you like something to drink?
- What shall I do for you?

4. Expressing Pride (rasa bangga)
    Contoh: 
- Well, I'm good at it.
- It's no problem! Anyone can do it.

5. Expressing Request (permohonan)
    Contoh: 
    5.1. Asking someone to do something:
·        Can you give me the book?
·        Could you phone me at 7 o’clock?
·        Would you mind repairing my watch?
·        Do you think you could take me to the shop?
·        I wonder if you could write me an application letter?
   5.2. Asking someone for something:
·        Can I borrow your pen?
·        Could I have a seat?
·        Can’t I sit beside you?
·        May I use your computer?
6. Expressing Inviting (mengundang)
    Contoh: 
Would you like to go to my birthday party tonight?

7. Expressing Accepting Invitation (menerima ajakan)
    Contoh:
- That's a good idea. 
- That's great. I can't wait to go.
8. Expressing Declining Invitation (menolak ajakan)
    Contoh:
- I'm sorry I can't. I have to stay at home.
 - I'd love to, but I don't like it.
9Expressing Asking for Opinion (meminta pendapat)
      Contoh: 
- What do you think about him?

10. Expressing Introduction (Perkenalan)
      Contoh:
